What is the psychological evaluation for bariatric surgery?
The evaluation prior to surgery is not meant to prevent someone from having a life-changing surgery. It identifies risk-factors to having a successful surgical outcome. There are several psychological factors that could complicate recovery, and we are able to identify and provide guidance on how to overcome these obstacles. The evaluation is an important step in the surgical candidate’s preparation and allows you to receive psychoeducation. After your evaluation you will have new stress management skills, ideas about your mental health, and feel confident in your upcoming surgery. It will consist of an interview and completion of some standardized testing forms.
Can I complete the pre-surgical bariatric evaluation through telehealth?
We strive to provide maximum flexibility and convenience in supporting your successful surgical outcome, regardless of your location. Yes, we can schedule and conduct your pre-surgical bariatric evaluation through telehealth.
How can I pass the psychological evaluation for bariatric surgery?
Show up and be honest. The worry from candidates is they will be excluded for mentioning any stress or concerns. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions, learn about new ways to manage stress, and not underestimate your ability to handle this weight-loss surgery opportunity. I want every candidate to reach their goals.
We strongly discourage seeking results from providers that may not be accepted by your insurance or hospital.
Every day, we collaborate closely with patients, hospitals, and insurance companies to ensure the provision of high-quality service. Rest assured, Daniel Wysocki Ed.S., regardless of your location, can efficiently conduct your evaluation and deliver same-day results, along with a detailed report. Please contact us today to get started.
What is the cost of a pre-surgical bariatric psychological evaluation?
Pre-surgical bariatric psychological evaluation coverage varies by insurance. We will check your coverage and obtain a pre-authorization if necessary. Self-pay cost is $450 (consultation, testing, report).
